Debbie and all S/P users:
Until Spotter Pro gets updated that is a great idea that we highly encourage
its use!
ALL IPADS ON ALL BOATS WORK and should be used when possible.
The software is not updated and will not be for a while. Just tap through the
screens that say things like “needs update” or any error messages - if you just
tap ok to all these messages the S/P app works just fine. I have not updated
the software on the iPads so they still work.
YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE YOUR IPHONES for Spotter Pro because the new iOS
software is not compatible so the work around for the short term is to install
the
public simplified Whale Alert app that some volunteers have already done and
currently using.
Even if you have not used spotter pro it is highly likely that you will be able
to use the Whale Alert since it is a much simpler app that is meant to be used
by the general public.

That’s when it is good to use whale alert also. I am pretty sure as soon as
you send it it gets read. I have been using it when the whales are in the
shipping lanes and even sent a picture of how close the container ship was to
the whales.
