Spotter Pro Users,
We need CINC volunteers to use the iPads to collect data that also supports
photo-ID and our long term data fields used in Spotter Pro, HOWEVER, if you
find yourself in the field without an iPad please feel free to download the
Whale Alert West Coast app and use that as a back-up only.
If we revert over to relying on Whale Alert then the long term data will be
skewed, plus Whale Alert data is treated differently (it’s an app designed for
the public and has much less data than we need) than the Naturalist Corps data
collected with Spotter Pro. That being said, it doesn't hurt to use Whale
Alert as a back up for general sightings capture. If you choose do load Whale
Alert we ask that you continue to use Spotter on the vessels equipped with
iPads.
Please make sure the iPads are turned off, fully charged and your trips are
uploaded at the end of your trip.
Thank you and we hope to have the new iOS software compatible with Spotter Pro
as soon as possible…but do not have a date.
