When I first started out there in 2003, there were 21. They have a vet and a
farrier. The maintenance team feed them a senior horse diet and apples and
carrots. They are well retired!

They are “retired” from the ranch there. The park agreed to let them live
out their lives on the island after ranching and hunting operations ended
there. They are 35+ years old. When I first started going out there
regularly in about 2011 there were 13 horses, these are the last two from the
ranch.
