Sightings
Morning trip:
1 adult gray whale moving south - Captain Robert theorized that it was a
pregnant female migrating late.
2 small (~50) and one larger (~100) pods of dolphin
1 Juvenile humpback
Sealions on platform Gail sea buoy
2 mother calf gray whale pairs just outside the breakwall on the return
trip.
Afternoon trip
the same 2 mother calf pairs
1 megapod of common dolphin
It was a small but interested crowd on the morning trip. We sighted the
adult gray heading south just inside platform Gina. Proceeding offshore we
ran through 3 pods of dolphin before sighting our one juvenile humpback of
the day. Had a great look at some sea lions on the sea buoy of platform
Gail, and sighted 2 mother-calf pairs just outside the Channel Islands
harbor breakwall on our return.
The afternoon trip was full - punctuated by a group of visiting Kenyans who
provided their own wild life! We headed west and found out 2 mother-calf
pairs again, just off Mandalay. We proceeded offshore, and did encounter a
megapod of common dolphin, but no further whales.
Thanks to Captain Robert, Spotter Dustin, and Chef (Bartender) Paul for
another great day out.
