Hi folks,
Yes, it was a great NOAA day at the aquarium, and we were there.
The turn out was huge, and our table was a hit, especially with the fun draw of
the whale hats for the kids, both young and not so.
This gave us the opportunity to inform the adults, and some very interested
younger folks of the existence of the islands (interestingly there are still
many who were not aware we have them). Once informed, the vast majority were
very interested in finding out more and wanting to get themselves and family
out there.
Dino Dal Bon and I had the AM shift, and we were almost overwhelmed with
interested folks. Most of the literature was distributed, and an entire box of
500 Whale hats was emptied.
The kids were really into coloring their hats, many very creatively with many
colors.
Whale models, both solid and stuffed kinds, generated many questions as did the
Krill Jar and Baleen sample.
A few folks wanted to know how to get into our CIN Corp, … we told them, so we
may have a new crop of volunteers lining up soon.
The Hill and Woolsey fires pushed Dino and I, coming from the Goleta and Santa
Barbara area, to the 126 to the 5 to the 710 and down, to get there, which
worked quite well.
One of our team did not have that option, and got overwhelmed by the smoke on
her rout and had to tun back.
Lind Knowlton was able to make it in for the PM shift. With the table still
running at full bore, we hung in there for a good time to assist.
Finally it was really time for us to leave so we called it a day at about 3 PM
and folded up shop.
Even so, … it was a great hit, as the table was full of folks seeking info,
probably one of the best outreach events I have had, with the very high
interest rate that we experienced. We made more contacts in our shortened
stay, than several other OR events we have done put together.
It was a very fun and exciting day at the Aquarium. We highly recommend it as
it comes up a couple of times a year.
Catchya on the water soon,

Gentle winds, mellow seas, and always,
… a fresh breath of salty air, … to each of ya.
