Amazing day on the channel today! The trip started off slowly, with just a few
dolphins and the occasional pelican as Captain Paige at the helm of the Island
Explorer headed up the coast from Ventura. People were starting to get a wee
bit bored when the crew spotted and retrieved a mylar balloon.
Maybe it was the ocean's way of saying thank you for that good deed, but just a
few minutes later we were rewarded with a fantastic show! Three humpbacks amid
a feeding frenzy. They engaged in every behavior imaginable. Full body
breaches, pec slaps, tail slaps., flukes -- you name it! Dolphins and birds
made the extravaganza complete.
A wonderful day for visitors from around the world. Thanks to Paige, Dave, and
Joe for a truly memorable experience.
