After more than 15 years working with science teachers and over 20,000 students
in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, in lieu of in school instruction and
field trips, MERITO Foundation needed to reach students in a new way. We're
taking it to the beach! In the Summer of 2020 we held our first beach camps.
Students enjoyed hands on learning, in distanced situations, with COVID
protocols approved by Ventura County Health. Students work in designated pods
with individual materials and 1 bilingual instructor for every 6 students.
Each week we explore new topics on marine conservation, habitat restoration &
wetland ecology, animal classification, citizen science & beach clean-up.
