It was a beautiful afternoon on the Double Dolphin earlier this week.
Cruising north toward Hope Ranch, we encountered about seven gray whales. The
sunny afternoon showed off their heart-shaped spouts perfectly. A few came
quite close to the boat, including a group of juveniles traveling together and
a cow/calf pair. On the way back, we sighted at least two more grays!
Mylar balloon collection count: 1 Valentine’s Day escapee. Pelicans,
cormorants, and harbor seals rounded out the trip.
