Collegues: P.S.
The Humpback were diving and feeding within our CI Sanctuary waters on this
“Get Out in Your Sanctuary “ Weekend! This was announced by us, and we had
folks aboard surveyed by a NOAA representative Clare, part of an ongoing study
of the economic value of our National Marine Sanctuaries! Cheers, Paul

Ahoy Collegues,
Captain Dave took a nearly full boat all the way off the SE coast of Anacapa
to seek out 3 very actively diving Humpbacks. Along the way we saw a Minke
Whale which was not shy, giving us all a good, long feeding show. We saw a
total of about 600 Common Dolphin, very much to the enthusiasm of the many
kids aboard.
Seas were very calm, but visibility was only about 8 miles. The islands were
not visible until we got about half way out. Folks aboard ventured from as
far away as Sweden, Switzerland and France. A surprising number aboard met
people aboard from their own countries and saw their first whales!
All were kept happy by Dave’s crew of Colton and Jill. John Chackel, a new
CINC go-getter, was my fellow naturalist. We got to port a half hour late but
no one at all complained! Cheers, Paul
