Hi everyone,
Apologies for the delay in this report:
Saturday, 4/13
3pm trip
5 bottlenose dolphins
5 Humpbacks
200 common dolphins
Plus sea lions & Hundreds of seabirds
Robert Warner reported on the 2 earlier trips in the day (each quite special in
their own way!) but this final trip involved the most whale activity of the
day. Guests enjoyed seeing harbor seals & a lone sea lion (as well as many
pelicans) on the bait dock as we left the harbor. Then we encountered a small
pod of bottlenose dolphins just to the east of the wharf.
We headed out into the Channel and spotted a few spouts in the distance. As we
approached, a humpback treated us to a few breaches! My first, in person, so I
was very happy! The couple of spouts turned into a bit of a feeding frenzy with
hundreds of birds (many species), sea lions, common dolphins, & at least 5
Humpbacks involved. The passengers were delighted!
