I forgot to mention that we picked up 22 balloons today!! A few of them were
fairly bleached out and well on their way to looking like snacks to sea
creatures.

A lone humpback was located within the first 30 mins. Adam quickly identified
the whale as Chompers, a female who has been seen often in the Channel. We
watched her feeding for awhile and then she treated us to some lunge feeding
with her signature chomping motion & some bubble blowing.
After awhile we headed further offshore and came upon an extremely acrobatic
group of short-beaked common Dolphins. They delighted the whole boat with
their leaps and belly flops!
Captain Dave took us the rest of the way to Santa Cruz Island and we enjoyed
beautiful views as well as a visit partway into Painted Cave. On the way home
we encountered a second humpback whale that was logging for quite some time.
It was a beautiful day!
