Just wanted to let everyone know about a fabulous trip on the CX today. I went
as a paying passenger, but had the opportunity to talk with most of the 20ppl
on the trip!
The boat looked great, they have cleaned it to a sparkle, they have taped off
the 6ft spaces, and are required everyone to wear face masks during the trip.
There was and is a limit of 50 passengers for the trip, there were about 20
today with plenty of room for 30 more.
We saw plenty of wild life, starting with a huge group of common dolphins.
After a lengthy search, a large Blue Whale was spotted with a 10 minute down
time. The whale tail fluked for each dive. After a few cycles, we set off due
south for Santa Cruz island and soon located two beautiful Humpback whales.
They had glowing white pectorals in the sunshine, and each performed tail
flukes on their dives. One lone Fin whale surfaced very close to the boat as we
were watching the Humpies. Captain Dave headed west to see what we could see
and found another large (I guess they all are large) Blue Whale that we visited
for a few cycles.
It was a great day on the water. If you feel comfortable, it’s a wonderful
time of the year to go out and support our favorite whale watching boat!
