July 2 — Shirley, the for once silent passenger, visited SIX different marine
mammal species aboard the Condor Express on a smooth-as-glass day.
… and did we boogey way out there, to the west end of Santa Rosa.
5 humpback whales a feeding (3 sightings, lots of flukes)
15 Risso’s a napping (really good looks at the white to dark large gray
dolphins)
1 Fin whale a serpentining
2 or 3 groups of commons, plus others dispersed throughout, a jumping
Bottlenose dolphins… the gang of 5 or 6 or 10 outside SB harbor, say’en hello
to the CX
Sea lions a leaping and flipp’en and a thermo-regulat’en
This corvid thing is sure a bummer, because, not only I was
uncharacteristically taciturn, nobody talked with nobody, other than within
their
groups. Seating very well separated, railings marked off. As it should be,
we all know it, things are not “as usual.”
But boy, it was strange not to have a job to do. It was A wonderful day, I
miss everybody and especially the Condor Crew.
