Condor Express Saturday April 13
Lovely day, fairly calm after a rough week.
9 am - Good-sized crowd, many overseas visitors from Norway & England
Lots of searching, but then
One lounging (not lunging) very large humpback staying at the surface,
quite near with spectacular views.
About twenty FALSE KILLER WHALES, believe it or not, nice mixed pod with
young calves.
No dolphin, maybe because FKWs eat dolphins?
12 noon
Great conditions, large crowd, sparse sightings
Very good views of a blue shark
A glimpse of a Minke whale, quickly gone
and as a finale ~ 300 Common dolphin, very agitated, lots of time
leaping out of the water. Always a crowd-pleaser
Other naturalist was Emilee Hurlbert. PID Bruce Matthews. And, as
always, a fantastic job by Captain Dave and crew Jill and Colton. Karly
along from NOAA surveys.
