2 Gray Whales, a Mother and her very small baby.
Mama let everyone on board get many looks at her and her very small calf.
Captain Taylor got a heads up from another boat, so headed along coast from S.
B. harbor. We first saw the adult blow a few times, finally saw the large size
of it and really started looking for a calf. It was just a wisp of a blow.
They were in the kelp, close to shore near the mesa, could see the long
staircase. They stayed in the kelp a while, then started on north, moving
slowly probably due to the tiny size of calf. Mostly snorkeling, smaller
exhales, not under very long. It was consistently mama blow, then baby blow.
The passengers got many great looks of most parts of the adult, all but flukes.
Thanks to Captain Taylor and crew Kathy and Perry. A clear day except the
islands were shrouded, smooth seas, a lovely day on the ocean.
