Smithsonian Books has recently published a book all about our sites! The
National Marine Sanctuary Foundation worked with Smithsonian Books, with
contributions of photos and stories from many of you, to bring America's
Marine Sanctuaries: A Photographic Exploration

completion.
The book provides a snapshot of our history, an overview of some of the
present challenges the system faces today, and some thoughts about our
future as we move to and through our 50th anniversary in 2022. America's
Marine Sanctuaries joins other great books about the sanctuary system
including Wild Ocean: America’s Parks Under the Sea from National
Geographic in 1999 and the Exploring sanctuaries series by Jean Michel
Cousteau from the early 2000s. Efforts like these help ensure that
Americans all over the country learn about and appreciate the important
ocean places that we protect, study, and share. If you're interested, I
