The Sandwich Fire Department, Sandwich, Illinois responded to a reported fully
involved barn fire. On arrival units encountered a fully involved 60 by 40
timber frame barn. The building houses two horses and storage of straw and hay
with other assorted storage.

The first arriving engine had water (one 2 1/2 line) on the fire within one
minute of arrival. This fire is covered under an automatic aid response area
and numerous other auto aid departments arrived with additional water tenders
and an additional engine for fire suppression.

A total of four hand lines and one master stream were used at one point during
the fire to bring it under control. The fire was brought under control in 11
minutes after arrival due to the automatic aid and use of well placed
handlines. The fire cause was undetermined at this time.
