FDNY and Phoenix are America?s two most well known FD?s. These agencies have
developed a number of innovative and progressive programs to manage the
challenges of firefighting. For the first time, Command School brings a
dedicated group of FDNY and Phoenix fire officers right into your community to
share their knowledge and solutions to today?s most pressing command issues.

Learn about the latest changes and additions to the Incident Management System,
and the methods the PFD uses to train new command officers. Their innovative
command training center sets the standard for command training. Get an overview
of the new apparatus and programs that has kept Phoenix on the forefront of
innovation. Bring home the newest innovations that have kept Phoenix on the
cutting edge of the fire service.

Day in and day out, the challenges of running our nations largest fire
department confront the officers of FDNY. Get an inside view of how FDNY
commands and trains for the thousands of incidents they respond to. You?ll get
a behind the scenes look at FDNY practices and procedures and get plenty of
practical solutions and ideas to bring home to your community.

The Phoenix and FDNY instructors will present a number of case studies of
residential, commercial and special operations incidents to give the students
an overview of the command decision making factors that occurred and lessons
learned from these events, lessons the students will bring back to their
communities.

The final module of Command School 2004-2005 is a full scale exercise of the
National Incident Management System. Our students will staff an Emergency
Operations Center, an Incident Command Post, a tabletop strategy and tactics
simulator, and play the roles of all the involved players at a major WMD event.
Our FDNY instructor will mentor the operations branch; the Phoenix instructor
will mentor the command post and the EOC. You?ll spend 2 hours managing and
planning the largest exercise you can imagine!
