The U.S. Fire Administration has received notice of the following
firefighter fatalities:

Name:  Angelo Petta
Rank:  Chief Engineer
Age:  46
Gender:  Male
Status:  Volunteer
Years of Service:  18+
Date of Incident:  02/12/2005
Time of Incident:  1820 hrs
Date of Death:  02/12/2005      

Fire Department Name:  City of Garfield Fire Department 
Fire Department Address:  111 Outwater Lane, Garfield, New Jersey  07026 
Fire Department Phone:  973-478-8500 
Fire Department Chief:  Michael Latona

Cause of Death:  Chief Engineer Petta responded to odor of natural gas in
a single family dwelling and was in the process of evacuating occupants
from the building when he collapsed outside of the building.  Despite
efforts of fire and EMS personnel to revive him, he was transported to a
local hospital where he was pronounced dead of a suspected heart attack.

Cause of Death:  Captain McCormack was working outside of a residential
structure fire when he apparently was struck by a fallen power line that
was dangling across the driveway from a tree limb.  McCormack was treated
at the scene and pronounced dead a short time later at an area hospital.
