Cause of Death: While responding to an alarm (residential smoke
investigation) in his personally owned vehicle, Firefighter Fugate lost
control of the vehicle and crashed off of the roadway flipping several
times and ejecting him. Fugate was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt. He
was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Hwy 169, Collinsville, Oklahoma.

Cause of Death: After attending an EMT class involving strenuous
activities held at the station, Firefighter Martin woke his wife the next
morning gasping for breath. Firefighter Martin died at the hospital due
to heart complications.
Wake Arrangements: The visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
on Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at Wasburn & Dorsey Funeral Home. The
Rutherford County Firefighter's Honor Guard will serve at both the funeral
and visitation hours.
Funeral Arrangements: Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at Mount Pleasant
Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Piney Mountain Baptist Church
Cemetery.
Memorial Fund Contact and Address: The family requests that memorials be
made to the Bostic Fire Department; P.O. Box 158, Bostic, North Carolina
28018; Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 397 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Forest
