911 Officials Ready in Case of Changes in Local Ambulance Service Several employees of Effingham Advanced Ambulance have left that firm within the last week, and most if not all have gone to work for Effingham City-County Ambulance Service. Effingham County ESDA Coordinator Russ Thomas, who chairs the Effingham County 911 Board, said emergency officials were monitoring the situation in light of reports that the employees left Advanced after their paychecks bounced. Ben Sullivan is one of those who left. Sullivan said that his paycheck from last week didn`t cash. He said he knew of other employees who had that problem in the past, and said it would only happen to him once. He was hired by City-County on Tuesday and starts work there tomorrow. City-County Operations Director Terry White said they would be able to "easily absorb" those hired between their three locations in Effingham, Altamont and Salem. He said most of those hired would work in Effingham County. White said, "we are prepared to handle any emergency or non-emergency calls in our venues". The Effingham County Board`s Public Safety Committee plans to meet at 8am Friday at the County Office Building to discuss the situation.
