Course Description

Implementation of and compliance with the National Incident Management
System (NIMS) by state and local jurisdictions is a requirement for
receiving certain federal grant funding. Much confusion and =
misinformation
exists as to what NIMS is. Many people equate it to an incident command
system (ICS). However NIMS is much more. It integrates existing best
practices into a consistent, nationwide approach to domestic incident
management that is applicable at all jurisdiction levels and across
functional disciplines in an all-hazards context. Six major components =
make
up this systems approach: Command and Management, Preparedness, =
Resource
Management, Communications and Information Management, Supporting
Technologies, and Ongoing Management and Maintenance.

This class provides up-to-date information on the implementation of =
