I have to be downtown with the drum majors for awards in the afternoon, so I
won't make the later send-off if there is one. With the morning send-off
canceled, I'm sad to say that brings my Parent Pep Band career to a close. I
have a new role within my company, and that role is taking me to Boston. As a
weekly commuter until Zach graduates, then full time after that.
I wanted to thank you all for letting me be part of this band - it has been a
blast. It's been a great opportunity to dust off the drumsticks, and you won't
find a more fun and welcoming group of people anywhere. This really is a
unique group, and one I've been proud to be part of for the past 5 years. I
will miss the camaraderie, the music (except for "Sea Shanty for Tuba"), and
most of all, the people.
Thanks for putting up with me, and keep on making great music!

Bad news folks - since sendoff will likely be around 6:30 a.m. we have been
asked not to play. They like us and all, but we don't want to generate
complaints from nearby residents who may still be asleep on a Saturday morning.
Although - given the cold, maybe it's good news actually!!

For those who were not in attendance last night, the show was musically and
visually great. The sudden appearance of the 100 or so white-robed orchestral
Valhalla "angels" greeting the ship at the end was amazing.
I'm sure the kids and directors and field crew must be tired. It's wonderful
that we can add some adrenaline to their send-offs!
