Ok, with Chicken Nugget open and in the Timelines Tab, if you hit TAB until you're in the "home" list, and just hit ENTER on any of the tweets listed there, what happens? Absolutely nothing??
What happens if instead of ENTEr, you hit your Applications Key, then the letter D twice? That should get you to "Details", and you should be able to hit ENTER on that to accomplish the same thing.

what? hitting enter on a tweet in a list should open a details dialog for that tweet.

If that was successful, then I do't know.
One other thought and others might chime in, what virus checker are you
running?  I wonder if its possible a firewall is blocking it for some
reason
