Well, speaking of animated 3d attractors, let's not forget that blender

particle systems with attractor objects. Here's a quick link for the

I was wondering if anyone here has taken motion blur for a spin with
these and seen if you could get some attractor like effects... I'm
always putting off such a project.

I believe Aurora is a plugin for LightWave 3D - http://www.newtek.com/lightwave/ - which is a very nice although quite expensive piece of software. This project is completely independent from Chaoscope, I found out about it when it popped up in my referrals.
