Subject: [chai-t] Meeting Friday 26th June at 3pm

Dear fellow Chai-Ters,

The next meeting will be this Friday 26th June at 3pm in room 18.23 at DHHS 50
Lonsdale Street.

The guest speaker will be Jock Lawrie. Jock has a PhD in Mathematics and is
currently a research fellow at the Murdoch Children's research Institute. He's
put together a proof-of-concept to test the use of real-time analytics in
projecting ED waiting times. Below is Jock's description:

A software tool for ED managers that projects waiting/service times for
individual patients (i.e., not simply average service times). The projections
update every 60 seconds and account for clinical information, typical and rare
events. The tool runs projections under several scenarios to ascertain the best
way to process the current patient load. I have a working prototype.
- The same technology can be used for what-if analyses on longer time
scales, from days to years. For example, one can explore the effects of
different staffing schedules, additional beds/equipment/staff, etc.
Cost/benefit analyses flow from here.

Andrea has also circulated the points score matrix Easterns' they're trialling
for prioritising their work requests so will have a further discussion on that
subject.

Show and tell - If you have something that you'd like to share with the group
please feel free. Let me know in advance if possible. It doesn't necessarily
need to be a presentation, you might just want to share some interesting
developments at your health service.

Christmas party.

Because it's in 18.23 we'll need to organise security passes so please send an
e-mail to my Austin e-mail below. You'll need to let me know by COB tomorrow.

Be there or be square.

Cheers
