The Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Meteorology cordially

*Work 2015: A GIS Survival Toolkit*

This lecture will provide GIS graduates entering the world of work in 2015
with an overview of GIS career path in the Banking & Financial services
sector. It will also provide pragmatic and practical advice for job seekers
and highlight the soft and technical skills required. A strong trend that
is emerging is the convergence of Big Data, Analytics and GIS. This lecture
will cover some keys ideas the enables GIS practitioners to participate in
this exciting convergence through spatial analytics. This lecture will
conclude with a sampling of GIS applications that enable Banks and Insurers
to optimize their branch network, manage risk and price risk based on
geographical spreads.
