The Centre for Geoinformation Science invites you to a research seminar
presented on:

*Python scripting for Geoprocessing*
by Yvette Bevis, ESRI South Africa

Python is a powerful scripting language commonly used to automate tasks. It
can be written and run in different environments, including ArcGIS. Python
is similar to other object-oriented programming languages because it deals
with functions, classes, and objects. ESRI has written a module for python,
named ArcPy, that adds special functions, classes, and objects that deal
specifically with ArcGIS and its components. The ArcPy module provides
access to all the geoprocessing tools for tasks that you can perform in
ArcGIS. This lecture will focus on the use of python for geoprocessing
tasks and how to create custom tools using python.
