Hi folks, here's what's going on at the station this week.
First, our volunteer drive will be starting officially on September 9th at the
Back to School BBQ, but we will be starting a little early on air and on
campus. The on air campaign will start on September 5th, there will be an
announcement to read up in the booth starting the morning of September 5th.
Also, we've been invited to TRU Residence move in day on September 4th on
Sunday night, where we'll be playing some mix CDs and handing out information
to people living in TRU Residence this year. I'll need a few volunteers to help
out, and I'll be sending out the details early next week. We'll also, of
course, be at the Back to School BBQ, Clubs Day, plus some info tables in Old
Main during September, and another table down at the Farmer's Market that month
too. More info as all of these events get closer.
I now have a stack of recruitment posters in my office. I'll be getting them up
on campus next week. I also want to get them up around town for the first week
of September. I have a list of places to tack them up. If you want to help
getting the posters up, contact me and I'll get you the distro list and the
posters.
A reminder to returning volunteers to get in touch with me when you get back
into town, because timeslots will be filling up fast. The quicker you can get
to me, the better slots will be available. I'll be catching up with all
returning and vacationing volunteers very soon.
Remember to sign up for the mentorship program too. I want all veteran
programmers to mentor at least one new trainee during the volunteer drive, to
help them get acclimatized to how we do things at the station and for you to
pass on your knowledge to the new recruits. It's also a great way to brush up
on your own skills. Contact me to volunteer or for more information.
Much more next week! Thanks!
