Dear Centerville Family, It is with a heavy heart that I have to share that one of our students, Jazimen Warr, was killed in an auto accident early Friday morning on route 270. While the media has been sharing the details of the accident, an incorrect detail describing the family as visiting from Ohio might have lead many of us to overlook the details of the news. This family has been quite active at Centerville, Jazimen's sister will be starting 6th grade at Urbana Middle School, Mrs. Warr, Jazimen's mother, has been a long-term and regular substitute teacher for us and Jazimen would have been a 5th grader. Arrangements are being made for the FCPS crisis team to be at school Monday morning. As of now, 4th and 5th grade teachers will share a written statement with students and a letter will be sent home. Students in 3rd grade and below will take a letter home, but teachers will not read a statement and all students will be assisted and supported as needed. At this time, most Centerville staff have been notified and briefed. Due to technical difficulties the PTA calling system was unable to be used. Please check with your neighbors to make sure they know and have an opportunity to process this information before the first day of school. Assistance will be available at Centerville. Arrangements are not known at this time except for a phone number to call to donate money for funeral arrangements, 301-887-9000. Other details will be shared as they become available.
