We also experienced this problem a few days ago. The reason is that in R
2.8.0 a file called Rproxy.dll is missing which is essential for the
RDCOM-Server to work. R 2.7.2 works fine. Additionally, in the latest
release of Xpose (4.0.3) they changed the names of some functions which now
causes problems when calling these from Census (from the Xpose release

  * Changed all functions in xpose4specific that began with "abs." to
    begin with "absval." to be consistant with the rules for generic
    function definitions in R.
  * Changed name of add.abs() to add.absval().
  * Changed name of par.summary() to parm.summary().
  * Changed name of param.vs.cov() to parm.vs.cov().
  * Changed name of param.vs.param() to parm.vs.parm().

The work around is to change the affected function names by hand in the
command line of census.

Best regards, Andreas.

Betreff: [Census] Census, Xpose and R 2.8.0: potential incompatibility

Hi all,

I've had sporadic reports of incompatibilities between Census and the new
version of R, 2.8.0. Apparently, there are some problems with Xpose (efforts
are underway to fix this on the part of the Xpose development team). I have
also had a report that the link between Census and R/Xpose behaves
erratically after installation of R 2.8.0 - has anyone had any similar

If you haven't upgraded R, please note that doing so may break Xpose
functionality in Census until the next update (Xpose, Census or both) is
