Dear family of faith , Thanks to the 13 friends who braved the cold last night
for Body Life. Masked and honoring social distancing, we shared fond
Christmas memories , bundled up in blankets , studied the practical application
of a changing passage in Romans 7, shared our lives and prayed for one another
and all in our church family. Gene provided the perfect outdoor setting with
a Christmas tree and lights.
On another topic, several of you over the past few years have asked me about
how my pilgrimage as a Christian led me to become an ethical vegan in 2010. Of
the many books and articles available on the topic of Christian vegetarianism /
veganism, I’ve attached an essay which you may find insightful. Christian
vegetarianism/ veganism is clearly an individual choice as we reflect on
climate change , environmental concerns , world hunger, nutritional health and
compassion. While not agreeing with every point of this article, it does lay
out important issues to consider. As Vice President- elect Kamala Harris
frequently reminds us , we must move away from meat based diets if we hope to
restore and heal our planet , God’s Creation.
