Hi Stewart Et Al,
With the current way the list is set up anyone asking a question needs to be
subscribed to the list so any replies to the list will go to the person asking
the question, and everyone else.
I personally find this quite useful at work as I can watch the questions and
answers flow past in my in-box. Great for learning answers to problems I
haven't yet had. Also works well for people correcting incorrect or ambiguous
answers or adding more details.
Something to keep in mind with this list is that the archive is public, I think
emails are obfuscated but have yet to check.
Happy playing.
Regards,
Robin

Hi Robin and others
I've enrolled and sent a couple of emails - so far so good. The next
steps will be how replies from all members are routed to the person who
asked the question and how members search and access all emails
Picking up on this last point here's a thought on how we can use the
library of emails
* Maybe we can pre-populate the email database with emails containing
key articles and pdfs from the mag, LVVTA, info from suppliers, clips
from the internet, etc. This would make the email list into an information
database .
o To do this any email group member would have to be able to
submit an email to the data base (effectively an info upload) without it
becoming an email to all and sundry.
o Others would then be able to search the email database with a
search engine to pull the relevant emails. Hopefully the search engine could
look inside attachments
o Moderators eg BSG members could check the emails lodged in
the database to make sure they were technically ok and maybe amend or
comment them
Am I being optimistic here - or have I at last just caught up with you
and how you see it working. We originally tried to do this by putting mags
on the website - as well as helpful info such as Yukis 2d airflow, MIG
settings etc . But it was a formatting nightmare for Nik
Cheers

Hi Stewart, and anyone else who's managed to subscribe.
To contact everyone on the list just sent a message to the list
email address ccc_test_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
mailto:ccc_test_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ;.
Assuming your message is accepted it will get sent to evryone who's
subscribed. Currently just the two of us I think.

Robin
