Hi Robin,

I have no personal experience with your motor but one of my staff has and tells
me for a conversion to the twin cam cylinder head a kit was available to turn
the cam in the block to a jack shaft to get the chain drive to the overhead cam
gear. It required blocking off the rear cam bearing in the block as you
probably know, he tells me the parts supplied with the kit had a rod which went
into the gallery from the rear cam bearing so was quite unsophisticated.  He
tells me the head has solid lifters so any oil leaking around the lifters would
lead me to believe there is too much clearance between the lifter and the
lifter bore.  If your engine has had debris go through it the loss could be
coming from all the bearing surfaces.  Probably not what you want to hear.

Should you be interested my staff member has a 3T Turbo block with most parts
to make it complete and a 2T twin cam head.

Cheers

Ian

Hello Phil Paul Mark and Ian..... many thanks for your helpful replies. A
lot of useful information has been filed away.
I don't know if this means anything but I am sending an exerpt from a
bill I had from a repairer. This seems to say that there is far too much oil
swilling around in the camshaft housing.... could this be where the oil
pressure is being lost? Any help is most welcome. Thanks again Rob Romain.

The problem I would like members advice on is my lack of oil
pressure. It does not reach 40 psi until about 4000 RPM. And very little on
idle, even when cold. The oil pump looks good, the gauge is confirmed as
accurate, and new oil and filter are installed. One workshop I took the car
to put in new big end shells , saying the old ones were poor. They said
they could
Not obtain new main shells but said the old ones were serviceable.
A plate on the cylinder head says 2tgeu. This cannot be true since the EU
stands for fuel injection which it isn't.
The engine block is stamped with the number 2T 813 7415.... could
this mean that the block was originally from a 2t engine which was
converted to 2tg? And that during the conversion something was left out
which causes the pressure to be lost.?
Any help would be wonderfully welcome. Rob
