The Great Outdoor Weekend (GOW) is a sampling of the best outdoor recreation and nature education activities offered in the region around greater Cincinnati. For the last 10 years GOW has introduced countless families to their local "natural resources," and this year will be the biggest yet! This year's Great Outdoor Weekend offers 150 opportunities to sample the outdoor recreation and nature education programming of organizations throughout 8 counties surrounding the Cincinnati area. There are over 50 locations that you can visit and learn more about September 28 and 29 - all FREE and open to the public. CAS will be open Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 until 10:30pm Help is needed to greet visitors, answer their astro-questions, point our the constellations, present kid's activities and run the scopes. Both nights are free but we'll have the donation jars out and will have some new astronomy/ space books for sale. Program Description: "Viewing the Early Autumn Sky" You will want to come early to catch brilliant Venus and lovely Saturn in the western sky at sunset. Learn the constellations and their stories. View colorful double stars, exploding stars, our Milky Way's sister galaxy and other celestial treasures through our 4 large telescopes. Astronomy activities, displays and informal talks all night.
