Fairfield City Parks has requested an event for the evening of October 11.
This is more of a star party thing, so if you have a scope, you can be a big
help. I will follow up with location and time. Contact me at
spacewatcher56@xxxxxxxxx if you want to help.

Subject: [cas_announce] CAS & the Great Outdoor Weekend

One of biggest events of the year is coming up this Saturday & Sunday!

The Great Outdoor Weekend (GOW) is a sampling of the best outdoor recreation
and nature education activities offered in the region around greater
Cincinnati. For the last 10 years GOW has introduced countless families to
their local "natural resources," and this year will be the biggest yet!

This year's Great Outdoor Weekend offers 150 opportunities to sample the
outdoor recreation and nature education programming
of organizations throughout 8 counties surrounding the Cincinnati area. There
are over 50 locations that you can visit and learn more
about September 28 and 29 - all FREE and open to the public.

CAS will be open Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 until 10:30pm

Help is needed to greet visitors, answer their astro-questions, point our the
constellations, present kid's activities and run the scopes.
Both nights are free but we'll have the donation jars out and will have some
new astronomy/ space books for sale.

Program Description:

"Viewing the Early Autumn Sky"
You will want to come early to catch brilliant Venus and lovely Saturn in the
western sky at sunset. Learn the constellations and their stories. View
colorful double stars, exploding stars, our Milky Way's sister galaxy and other
celestial treasures through our 4 large telescopes. Astronomy activities,
displays and informal talks all night. Learn what family, scout & school
astronomy programs are available through CAS. Bring your scope for expert help
setting it up and exploring the universe.
