Hello Carbon Footprints Participants We are close to beginning our first communications between the students! There are a few things that you will need to do to get set up to have you and your students participate. Most of the communication will take place in ?Collaborative Classrooms? in Taking IT Global? They have donated the space for us to have the students participate in discussions, upload their photos, record their results in Excel and take surveys. It is a great tool and we are really looking forward to working with them! You will need to sign up as a teacher and add your students to your class. In order to sign up to the donated space in TigEd, please follow these steps: 1- Log into Taking it Global at www.takingitglobal.org 2- At the top right, go to the section called ?For Educators? 3- In the yellow box, there is a section called ?Teachers- Click Here? and click on that box. 4- This will take you to a page where you will need to join. If you are already a TIG member, click on the LOGIN box. If you are not, click on the box that says ?Sign Up? 5- Fill out the form, agree to the terms of service and click ?JOIN? 6- You will then search for the school. The school that you will look for is ?iEARN Canada? and select that one. 7- It will take you top a page where you will select ?JOIN SCHOOL? 8- You will enter the registration code, which is ?iearn canada? 9- Once you have joined iEARN Canada, you will then be able to create your class. 10- Go to the ?Create a Class? section and fill out the information. There are several things that you will need to select: ? Name your class your last name ? In the privacy section, select that the student accounts will be teacher managed 11- When you have created your class, you will then be able to add your students. 12- Go to the section that says ?Add Students to my Class? and put in the number of students that you have. 13- It is easier if you assign one password for all of them, so select that option 14- You can select the e mail option 15- When you see the screen to add the students, you can select the class password 16- You will give each student a username. You can erase the section that says iearncanada and begin their username in the way that you want. For example, my students will be whd-malib, depicting the initials of our school, my first name and the first initial of the last name. DO NOT USE YOUR STUDNNTS FULL NAME! 17- When you have entered all the information, please e mail me at mali@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and send me the following information: ? Your class name ? Your last name. I will then put you into the Learning Circle that you will be working with. We appreciate that this is a little bit of work to set up, but it will be an incredible experience for the students to be able to talk and learn together!
