For 10k thats almost at solar plus battery for one small tesla power wall
and panels for about almost a full day backup for my power use. Certainly
overnight,, and day time power rebate from PGE..
With the federal and state incentives its not much more cash. With two
power walls I could be wholly off grid for tens of years and not dependent
on PG and E at all as well as a net savings over time other than selling
back to the grid.
Just a thought. That is a lot of money for something PGE should have been
doing at scale for years, not just for *grid resilience* but also for
safety. Especially as the temperatures rise. Certainly they are buried
where I am from in Europe because basic common sense...but it costs a bit.

interest wasn’t high at the time. We could pay “as a street” to have our
power lines placed under ground. I don’t know specifics anymore, however I
would research more if there was serious interest. Last time the purchase
amount, I think less than $10k, was spread out over 5-10 years for
individual homeowners. We could achieve two different things by placing
them underground.
1. Less power outages due to fallen lines or weather. I believe we would
be connected from the Broadway terrace section.
2. Our street would be finally repaved since they would need to dig it up
to place the new power lines. Something the city of Oakland will most
likely never put into action.
Thoughts? Think of it as a two for one deal 😉!
