Oakland Police alternate numbers for police services (510) 777-3211 and

Otherwise use 911 as needed
Thank you Rill & Steve for helping to keep us all alert & safe. Good advice
in your remarks.
Keeping your lights on or having some music playing in the background may
help as a deterrent to those looking to take advantage on our street.

Hi Everyone,
I'm sad to say that Steve just saw a car being broken into on our street
just now at 5PM- he's assuming it was a car being broken into not someone's
home. He came across a car blocking the street in the with paper license
plates. It all looked suspect, so he honked at them a bunch. Someone then
ran from a parked car with their arms full of stuff before jumping into the
get away car.
I am sorry if you got robbed. I hope your car window was not broken. It's
another reminder not to leave stuff in your car, even if you know it's not
valuable. The thieves will steal it first before they figure out it has no
value.
Months ago I came across someone robbing a car on Broadway Terrace just a
few houses down from Capricorn at 8 AM. I stopped and yelled out my window
at them. It didn't save the car window from being broken, but the thieves
did drive away quickly. So it doesn't matter the time of day, please don't
leave anything in your car.
Thanks,
Rillann
