I would love to go. Have missed everyone.
Would love a lake view if possible. Will possibly be in recovery from knee
replacement and unsure if I will hike that much. 😢
Have a 20 ft Roadtrek.  Self contained.  Could have a tenter.  I have senior
pass.
Let me know what I need to do. 😘

Hello ladies. I’m in site 107, which allows 2 vehicles, so I’m willing to
share that site with a tenter. That shared site for 3 nights is $21.00 each!
What a bargain! It pays to be a senior…😊

Subject: [camping-women] Spring Fling--Camping at New Melones Lake--April
16-19, 2021

We’re “springing” back into action with a campout on the Tuttletown side of
New Melones on the weekend of April 16-19th (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
nights, checkout on Monday).

New Melones is full of easy hiking and biking trails and endless water for
paddling, plus it’s just a short distance for all of us to drive to.  Because
many of the trails and campsites aren’t shaded, April should be a great time
to enjoy it while it’s not too hot.  It’s run by the Bureau of Reclamation.
They offer showers and a dump station for a fee, but there are no hook-ups
for RV’s and the gates are closed for entry at night, with the closing time
to be posted at the gate.  Pets must be leashed. but it’s fine to bring them
on the trails.  Campfires are allowed in the campsite rings or grills.

To ensure that we could get at least most of an area to ourselves, sites 105,
106, 107, 111, 115, 116, and 118 of Manzanita Campground are booked for us
already.  This is part of a small loop with the loop’s

eastern side sites having awesome views of the lake (see attached campground
map).   If the water level rises substantially by April, site 116 would
afford us a spot to launch kayaks and leave them in place for the next day as
well.  Otherwise we could transport the boats down to the boat launch or find
some other feasible launching spot.

Let me know if you would like to share or fully occupy one of the booked
sites.  Bear in mind that a potential negative for the campsites at the far
end of this loop, such as 111, 115, 116, and 118, is that it would be a walk
of about 200-300 yards to the nearest bathroom.

Otherwise you are welcome to go to Recreation.gov and make a reservation for
your own site.  I’d recommend sites 120, 121, or 122.  The problem with the
sites on the west side of the loop (such as 112, 113, and 114) is that they
are on a downslope from the road, with no trees, and no view of the lake.

The cost for the 3 nights is $74 per site, or $41 using a senior pass.  The
sites we’ve already booked are all using senior passes.  Stay for the number
of nights you like.  Under current covid rules other visitors are not
supposed to be at the campsites, but that may well be changed by April.  Day
visitors may also want to meet for paddling, hikes, or cycling.

From Highway 49 just south of the Stanislaus River, look for the turnoff to
Tuttletown Recreation Area.  This is Reynolds Ferry Road.  Follow the signs
to the Manzanita Campground.  Check in time is 3pm, and check out time is 2pm.
