I agree Delphine was one of kind! I liked her so much and we each were still
weekender types coming up from the bay area when we first met. She was still
driving school buses and I was still selling books. Her fun stories and
forgetful antics (I loaned her a sleeping bag once at Union Lake) and
willingness to be up to most anything was always pleasant. Whenever we see a
“snake” trail on a trail I joke about Delphine being up there dragging her
trekking pole. She was one adventurous lady. I’ll always remember her showing
up at Sonora Pass for a hike in tank top and shorts and freezing as the rain
poured. Her group campouts to Saddlebag Lakes were my favorites. She was one
Camping Woman I really admired for the life she led. And come on now …who
doesn’t love a ditzy redhead 🥴!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Susan

driving, but she was a long-time bus driver! That takes guts! I'm sure that
she had many exciting experiences in her lifetime. I still remember seeing a
photo of Delphine and Maurice at his memorial. They both looked like movie
stars!
If there is a memorial for Delphine the Camping Women will be there to see
her off. If anyone hears of one please pass it on.

I am passing along a note from Natalie, Delphine Tipper's daughter: "Thought
you might like to know that mum passed away last night from dementia. It’s
fine if you want to pass on the info to others if you want."
Delphine was a long time member of Camping Women, an avid hiker. She visited
many National parks when she first came here from England...probably more
than any of us! She will be remembered for her 3 little dogs, her vibrant
red hair, enthusiasm for anything purple, as well as her love of the
outdoors!
