Dear Chris, Diane, and Alex/Cambridge City Council,
I know you have all received other complaints about the outrageous noise
and vibration from apparently dropping heavy metal from a great height at
the Cambridge Sidings and I am adding my complaint to it.
It is impossible to do focused work when giant booms randomly crash across
our houses and echo from surrounding buildings. As Philip says, we have no
choice but to work from home and you are making that a misery — and, as we
always have to note, unlawfully given that this is clearly interdependent
with the Trainwash work that has not yet received approval.
Notwithstanding that the work should not be occurring, what kind of work
practices are being allowed on site that involve such negligent dropping of
materials? There is no reason why materials that are being dropped cannot
be more quietly placed. Spencer claims to have briefed the workers to be
considerate. Either this has not been done or the briefings have failed.
GTR/Spencer can do better.
CCC officers and members, we urge you visit this site, check the briefings
and practices, and enforce a temporary stop order.
