Dear all,
Following our community meeting yesterday, I located the email from Ted which
provides the details for out of hours noise complaints - see below.
I also recalled that Jamie, early on, contacted an Alex Nix from Env. Health
more generally about the whole project for his awareness. Alex was going to
request the acoustic survey on the basis of which GTR etc were making the claim
that the noise of the trainwash would be minimal. I don't know what came out of
this or whether that's something we should reopen later, since our focus has
moved on for now. But he might still be a good contact for more general
environmental nuisance in future...
Cheers
Sophie

UTCObjet : GTR Letter today
Hi All,Some of you may have already seen this letter placed through letter
boxes last night/today from GTR, Spencer etc.
In this letter they state there will be some work on dates at the weekend.
They say they will be working nights.
They sate 'noise is unfortunately inevitable'...
Under the 1990 Environmental Act they are held liable to any activities that
create a noise nuisance to residents.
In 2002 I called the out of hours Environmental health team and they came and
took readings in my bedroom. After that call out and the Railway Company being
contacted the Railway work use of the maintenance engines stopped.
Regardless of what they say that is not a green light for GTR and Spencer to
carry out work at night that contravenes the very strict laws within the 1990
Environmental Health act.
Today when I tried to get thought to Cambridge Environmental Health via phone I
was put through to a customer servives representatice who was well aware of
this t Industrial Train Wash Facility as she said people in the office had been
talking about. She gave me these two emails to contact to ask them to warn GTR
etc about out of hours
noise.:commercial@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@cambridge.gov.ukShe said the
more people that raise concerns on this regarding the night work the more
tickets are placed
I would urge every one to individually contact the Cambridge Out of Hours
Environmental Health team and ask them to make GTR and Spencer fully aware of
the consequences of contravening the regulations concerning noise disturbance
to residents by construction work during unsociable hours.also contact
Yvonne.ODonnell@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx manager of environmental health services.
The out of hours noise complaint number: 0300 303 8389
My barrister who aided me in 2002 in pointing me in the right direction in
obtaining an injunction if the noise persisted after the Environmental Act had
been placed on the Rail company by the council has unfortunately been unable
help me in a professional as he has no knowledge base on planning rail regs
within all the sections of rail permitted planning. His speciality is family
law but he has sent me some links to people his colleagues in London have
recommended.https://www.ftbchambers.co.uk/barristers/juan-lopez
https://www.6pumpcourt.co.uk/practice-area/planning-and-environmental/

he said the Environmental Law Association was a good bet to
contact.https://www.ukela.org/

cheers all Ted at 47
PS I now in all my correspondence and phone calls refer to this development as
an Industrial Train Wash Facility. A tip from my barrister friend.
