Even though this is my first day using AGP I have learned a few things about it. To software it looks just like a PCI slot on BUS 2 From other sources I've heard that it sucks a little speed of the CPU in order to boost video performance, especially for games... Cheaper cards with less memory suck more juice as they use portions of system memory for their own use... =( On my parents machine the video chip uses main memory exclusively... The problem with this is not the consumption of memory but rather memory BANDWIDTH... =\ AGP 1x is 66 mhz... I have an AGP2 card which operates at the speed of the main memory bus. The better solution is to upgrade to a 64bit by 66mhz PCI based system which is a proper bus that is independant of the critical CPU-MEMORY system. Unfortunately no current Athalon chipset supports 64bit PCI. =( -- If a "bug" in one program causes another to fail, the OS is at fault. http://users.erols.com/alangrimes/ <my website. ####### Begin Eschelon Block ####### unabomber anthrax plutonium militia delta force ruby ridge atf batf waco oklahoma city assault rifle sog sof m-16 clinton marx crack m-60 c5 c7 mlk panthers FBI chemical weapons twa 800 roswell terrorist freedom To unsubscribe, send a message to listar@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx with "unsubscribe calmira_tips" in the body.
