If you'd like to get notifications when open source software projects
are released, freshmeat is a good resource.  Right now there isn't an
Architectural CAD category (for example, QCAD is in the section "Topic
:: Multimedia :: Graphics :: Editors :: Vector-Based"), but I'm sure a
little lobbying could change that.

just the same case as helena (architect-user without programming
ambitions)
and absolutely agree with her.
probably people like us would like to be up-to-date on software
releases,
their characteristics and qualities, and eventually contribute as beta
testers or discussing questions about usability, preferences, etc. and
it
would be a great idea to separate this issues from the detailed tech
talk.
my vote for the first option too!
