You said it all. It would also be very convenient to have lighting,
rendering and camera tools. The software would be not only a designing
tool but also a presentation tool.

this is just another student of architecture with some linux=20
ambitions calling...=20

What we need:=20
=20
- Building oriented tools (drawing walls, placing windows, doors,=20
stairs)=20
- Layer management (most 3d-modelers could be used to do=20
architectural work, but as they work on a per-object-base,=20
not with layers, are not suitable with large projects=20
- 2d-3d-integration: I must be able to generate 2d-drawings=20
(with dimensions, text, hatches) from my models=20
- data formats: dxf is a must (while I don't like it too much),=20

The problem with the software I know is that there is 3d-software=20
that I can't use with large projects (modelers, not cad), that can't=20
produce 2d-drawings from models, or pure 2d on the other hand -=20
nobody out there in architecture works in pure 2d any more!=20

To make it clear, I work with Archicad and formZ on the Mac, and=20
I would really like to have such applications on Linux, maybe with=20
some more advanced functionality in the data format and exchange=20
field (xml etc).=20
