Last week the following question was asked on this list: "Here's the tough question: If there were a state of the art CAD program that was free, would you really be that much better off in you profession? Flame if you must, but it's a question worth considering." The responses I though were intelligent, well thought out, and quickly went to the root of the issue which is freedom to access your own data, and not necessarily free as in cost. As it turns out I received a magazine in my office with an interesting and related article in it. I thought the article was very timely so I wrote to the author asking if he would post a copy to the web and allow me to link to it.
