Yes, I met the guys who are developing libredwg already... I thought of using it with freecad already, unfortunately it is licensed under GPL3 and cannot be linked in a LGPL2 application. Open-source licenses can sometimes be quite a hell... Anyway. The original library, libdwg, is entirely written and commented in esperanto... So the libredwg guys decided to fork and rewrite in english. Last time I checked, the library could convert some dwg< 00 files to svg, but only a couple of simple entities (circles, lines, polylines, etc). It would be fantastic if a good free dwg library emerged, but I fear this will require an insane amout of work just to keep more or less up to date with current dwg version and support more than basic entities... But surely the libredwg people would love to receive feedback or encouragements, so don't hesitate to have a look there. I'm actually wondering if those guys are not subscribed to this list... I'll copy this thread to them in case they're not so they can inform us better. Cheers Yorik -- Yorik van Havre São Paulo Brazil http://yorik.uncreated.net On 14 April 2010 16:20, Lars O.
