this may show up twice because i sent it earlier and it never came thru. Not a true cad, but a good tool none the less. infact it's good enough for NASA. i recived this, this morning. i emailed Andy Colebourne back to ask what platform they were using and was told: "They are using Linux. They tried a load of other tools but really liked because it was easy to use and because of the simple file format and simple SDK. They are converting a lot of their geometry to use with with AC3D and they have written some plugins and converters. They had huge polygon requirements - I forget now but it was many thousands. They are loading space shuttle payload models. (3.6 was harder to use with large models). With AC3D 4.0 they found they could actually load them in and edit them. There are already other departments/projects within NASA using AC3D too - they are probably Linux too, but I'm not sure." Phrostie <original email(trimmed)> AC3D site licence news Titan Corp. is working with the NASA Virtual Reality Lab and has recently licenced AC3D for use with simulations of the International Space Station. Academic sites are continuing to discover AC3D as a valuable tool because it's so easy to use and has minimal training requirements. Many high schools are finding that AC3D is a useful precursor to traditional CAD software and teachers are discovering that it has handy cross curricular links in subjects other than Design and Technology. . . . . .
