[bvipilots] Re: why exactly does it's your plane no longer work?

Hey there!

The problem is the varification of your user data on the server of
IYP. In order to make IYP actually work, the program connects to the
IYP server to varify your user data.
This is a standard procedure and therefore will always kick in at
startup, no matter whether you are in the online- or in the offline
mode.
As a matter of fact, this is the main issue every IYP customer
unfortunately has to face, and apparently, there is no work-around for
that (yet).

Abandoning or discontinuing a software is one thing; but on the other
hand (as for IYP), we paid for it, and it's not as if IYP will stop
working just because it is constantly relying on server data; in fact,
there is a reason why offline mode is called "offline mode".
In theory, IYP would still work just perfectly in offline mode, and
customers could keep enjoying the features the software comes with,
abandoned or not.
Therefore, it is just unfair to the customers who paid money for it,
and especially enjoy flying with IYP (myself gladly included!).

I tried to get in touch with Robert concerning the future of IYP, but
it appears that the e-mail addresses I have don't work anymore
(itsyourplane.com and Robs personal homepage are also down).

I don't know why IYP was taken down, but I can totally understand if
people get tired of programming and supporting their software and I
furthermore respect the good work Robert has done. But I would
appreciate it if IYP would get a final update to make it usable again
in offline mode, so that we can continue flying with IYP and enjoying
it's features.

I've been testing MCE and FSX Pilot; but none of these tools come with
all the features IYP comes with.

Best regards,
Patrick

It just seems no matter what I do it always gets stuck. I’ve tried
disconnecting and reconnecting from the Internet, making various flight
plans but it always gets stuck when checking to see if the plane is loaded
in the simulator, looks like it’s just completely gone even in off-line
mode

Hi. My guess is, even in the offline mode, that it may connect to the
server and validate the sound files or config files or something. Yeah, I
do miss flying, and I really want to be able to fly with the 737 ng
aircraft (I'm slighly obsessed to the 737's I guess, so I tried multicrew
experience, but it's honestly nething conpaired to what iyp was. I loved
it, and considering trying vansim so ow could be an air traffic
controller, but I dono, anyways. hope this helps

Hi. This is more an email in hope, i pretty much know i'll find
nothing but i thought i'd try anyway. I was just wondering why exactly
does it's your plane no longer workm i mean i no Robert pulled it but
shouldn't it still work in offline mode. I mean in offline mode you
aren't trying to connect to the servers are you, your just using the
application and code you already have installed. That's what i don't
get, i would understand if it didn't work online but it did offline,
but how come we can't use it at all. Is there really no way to get it
back, I highly doubt Robert is going to revive it to be honest. Of
course i don't know but from what I've heard it doesn't look so good
for IYP, i just want to know why. It's just so frustrating when the
only application we had to really fly on fsx is taken away and it's
just always out of our reach.
