We generally launch FSX first. One thing which might help is to go into FSX
graphics settings and lower the sliders quite a bit. They might all read as if
they were  at zero, but that’s a glitche, and they’re probably all at fairy
high settings.

Basically, the sequence is, launch FSX, set up your flight and aircraft the way
you want, then launch IYP or any other add-ons you like.

So do I launch IYP first and then FSX?
Or is the other way around?

Wyatt,

It’s likely that the dictation is running but IYp isn’t. You need to explore
the screen and figure out what’s  going on. If I recall correctly, you’re
first prompted for your name and registration key. YOu need to buy the
add-on for the blind pilot mode, as far as I’m aware.

I’m glad you at least got it installed, tat’s 95% of the battle.

Actually it ran and I heard the voice of Microsoft David. Now I just
have to figure out whenever I try to say something, I hear a beep but
no tts.

Wyatt,

Unfortunately I can’t run through the installation  of IYP right now, as
I’m
not at the machine where it would be done. I don’t remember having much
trouble with it though, I remember it eventually started talking. Do you
have any other screen readers you can try? I have no idea why your
computer
would be sluggish after running that installation program, it just does
a
fairly simple job.
Best,
Zack.

Ok, this is really starting to annoy me.
I installed FSUIPC4, but when I try to run the setup.exe program for
IYP, my computer gets all sluggish and stuff, and NVDA doesn't read
anything in the window.
FSX is not running when I attempt the install.

Hi Wyatt,

Okay, excellent. You’ll probably want to grab IYP at this point, just
to
make things easier. Basically, this screen is where you can change
aircraft,
weather, time and season, and so forth. You’ll notice lots of buttons
labeled “change.” The order runs something like Aircraft, location,
weather,
time. You’ll be using some of these controls more than others, I tend
to
use
Aircraft and rather a lot.

Unfortunately there’s no tutorial I’m aware of for exactly what to do
from
here. There were a few podcasts years ago but I don’t know where they
are
now. But basically you want to get IYP, and once you have it you can
start
flying.
Best,
Zack.

Ok, I made it to the free flight part of the sim.

Hi Wyatt,

Okay, I’m glad the game is running for you. There are a few things
you’ll
have to get used to to navigate. First off, you probably want to use
NVDA
object navigation to explore the opening screen. It’s easy to get
stuck
in
some controls if you don’t. explore both left and right, and don’t
forget
to
move “into,” and “out of,” objects.

Second, you’ll probably want to turn off the music. It’s a checkbox
on
the
opening screen, you can probably find it with object nav or maybe
shift+tab.
It’s very distracting when trying to find your way around.

If you can get to the “Free flight,” section, you’re in the meat of
the
sim,
and we can help you from there.
Best,
Zack.

Hi all,
FSX has been installed and I'm now running it. What do I do now?
I'm
